No news is bad news

Campaign For a Free and Diverse Press (07/02/06)

The campaign for a free and diverse press has been set up in response to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) announcement on the future of press distribution, and the Postcomm recommendation that Royal Mail remove the second class magazine delivery service- Presstream 2 from price control. We believe these decisions threaten the route to market for magazines, and in the OFT case, for newspapers also. We believe that people's access to news and information should be guaranteed and not threatened in the name of the free market.

Contained within this website is a series of the most recent updates which should give you a full picture of the issue and the arguments in favour of a protected route to market for newspapers and magazines. We urge you to register your support for the cause and ensure that the press in our democracy continues to remain free and diverse.
